The popular west of Ireland wedding venue The Claregalway Hotel decided this year to honour the wedding services industry by hosting the I DO Wedding Service Awards. In association with local paper The Galway Independent the awards recognise the public’s choice for outstanding service providers in all areas of the wedding service industry.

The finalists for each category were decided by over 1500 couples who had contacted the Claregalway Hotel in the last three years to enquire about the hotel as their wedding venue. Even though a large percentage of the couples had not used the hotel they were still emailed and asked to recommend a service provider for each category of the awards. From these nominations a list of the top ten most popular finalists in each category were drawn up. This was then put to a four week on line public vote.

A gala ball hosted by i102-104 fm DJ Lisa Brady was held at the Claregalway Hotel to announce the winners. Following the vote The Elastic Band won the title of Best Wedding Band 2011 and was presented with the award on the night by top business entrepreneur Gavin Duffy (TV3’s The Apprentice, RTE’s Dragon’s Den).
